The Nomadtopia Facebook Group Is Closing

December 1, 2020 |

I recently shared this news in the Nomadtopia Community, my free Facebook group, and I wanted the official announcement to be available publicly as well. Please let me know if you have any questions!

I often talk about how one’s Nomadtopia is a work in progress, an evolution, and in order to ensure it is fulfilling, successful, and sustainable over time, we have to make choices in alignment with our current values and priorities. We also need to be willing to continually evaluate what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to be shifted in order to be happy, keep growing, and make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. For me, this means continuing to evolve my vision of what my own personal Nomadtopia looks like—as well as what Nomadtopia as a brand and business looks like.

That’s why today, after much soul-searching about the future of Nomadtopia, I have a big announcement: We’re closing the Nomadtopia Community on Facebook and inviting you to join us in the Nomadtopia Collective.

The reason is simple:

We’ve discovered over the last three years in the Nomadtopia Collective that there’s so much more we can do together to help each other thrive in Nomadtopia—and Facebook isn’t the right place to do it.

I’m excited to focus our attention in one place and bring this community together in our own dedicated space away from the noise and distractions of Facebook. The Collective is our home for a global location-independent lifestyle, our own special world where we can:

  • Connect with each other more deeply
  • Share the ups and downs in a safe space with people who get it
  • Offer personal experience, insight, and resources to support each other
  • Increase our confidence in our chosen lifestyle—and our ability to handle whatever comes our way
  • And lots more

While Facebook may be convenient, dividing my attention means I can’t go all in on growing and evolving the Collective—and having your attention divided by all the distractions on Facebook means you can’t go all in on building and living your Nomadtopia. In the dedicated space of the Collective, we’re having deeper and more vulnerable conversations, making lifelong friends, and taking concrete steps to build, live, and thrive in our unique versions of Nomadtopia.

The Collective is powered by Mighty Networks, a robust community-first platform that also brings our events, courses, and groups together in one place. It’s private, ad-free, and available on every platform with its own mobile apps.

So here’s what’s next:

  • The Collective is now open to new members. You can join us by clicking here.
  • When you register for the Collective, you’ll be able to participate in members-only events right away.
  • We’ll be archiving the Facebook group on January 1, 2021. When we archive the group, we won’t accept new members and it won’t be possible to find it in search. It will no longer be possible to create new posts, but current members will be able to view/search all existing posts.

Okay, I think that’s enough information for one post!

I’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions.

By carving out a world that’s all our own, I’ve seen that we can drive faster, more powerful results and transformation—and deeper connections and support—for each and every member. Why? Because there’s a new level of focus and a greater level of commitment that we can’t get here. And with this focus and commitment, we can connect each of you more efficiently in ways that will help you to go deeper together, stay engaged, and get fresh thinking and new ideas from the experiences and stories of other members.

Ready to join us? Click here to join the Collective. I think you’ll find it will only take a few minutes to get the hang of it, and you’ll get a warm welcome from members to help you feel at home right away.
