Greg Denning: Slow overland travel with six kids
September 10, 2014 | Podcast, with kids
Whenever people tell me they can’t (or don’t know how to) live their Nomadtopia because they have kids, I tell them about Greg and Rachel Denning, who are slowly traveling overland from Alaska to Argentina (and beyond) with their six children, world-schooling as they go. Greg joined me from their current base in Costa Rica to talk about his family’s adventures learning, exploring, playing, and making a positive difference in the world.
Most Memorable Location-Independent Experiences
We have so many! The best part is that we have been able to create so many memorable and even life-changing experiences together as a family. We spend most of our time together and we get to do some pretty amazing things.
I would have to say that the very best has been serving the wonderful people in each country who, for whatever reasons, are in desperate need of help. We’ve been able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of some very special people.
Biggest Surprise along the Way
Border crossings are always an adventure. Most things don’t work out as you hope, think, or plan. You have to learn to roll with it. Places and people you may have been conditioned to fear are actually so friendly and generous. Most people are willing to go out of their way to help.
